So, I've been making my way through Cracker. I finally got to *that* episode (the last one w/Cristopher Eccleston is all I'll say, just in case some unspoiled person stumbles across this). Based on The Full Monty and even Trainspotting, I always thought Robert Carlyle was pretty cute. I think Cracker has ruined his cuteness for me. He's still a damn terrific actor. Just not cute.

I've watched the first two series of Cracker and I'm amazed because I think it really is by far the best crime drama I've ever seen. Though, I admit, there are a couple of supposedly excellent ones that I haven't seen (such as NYPD Blue and Prime Suspect). Cracker isn't better because of what happens (on other shows, characters die, are raped, commit crimes). Cracker is better because, while all of these things occur, the writer is being extremely attentive to what's going on with all of the characters. It's fantastic that at the same time, Fitz can be a complete ass, or as Panhaligan says, an emotional rapist and still be brilliant and kind of loveable. He's horrible and correct all the time and every character on the series who loves or hates him is always entirely justified in doing so. I'm glad CE chose such interesting projects. It makes my job as a fangirl that much more satisfying.
